IM+ Messenger finally available for the BlackBerry Playbook

One of the most anticipated titles for the BlackBerry Playbook has been the oft-delayed IM+ Messenger app. The developers were waiting for nearly six months as RIM contemplated its approval, though at this point we don’t know why it was left in limbo for so long.

The app, which is available for BlackBerry smartphones as well as on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, is one of the most widely-used and popular in the market, even though SHAPE Services demands quite a premium for the ad-free version.

It offers support for Windows Live Messenger/MSN, Skype, Facebook, Google Talk, Yahoo! , AOL/AIM/iChat, ICQ, Jabber and MySpace from a single application, with multiple accounts available for the same service. You can also listen to voicemails from your Skype contacts, which is a rare feature outside the official Skype app (which isn’t available on the Playbook).

The Playbook app is available for an introductory price of $9.99. You can get it in BlackBerry App World.
