LG is developing an exclusive device for AT&T

American wireless provider AT&T will start selling an exclusive LG device later this year, the carrier has revealed to The Verge.

“We offer a strong lineup of devices from LG today. And we’re planning to launch a new LG device this summer only from AT&T,” said a spokesperson for AT&T to the website. AT&T did not provide additional details on the upcoming device, making it unclear if this LG device is a completely new phone or a slightly revamped version of one of its existing handsets.

On the face of the company’s statement, it would appear unlikely whatever device LG is developing for AT&T will make its way outside of the U.S. However, there are examples of previous U.S. exclusives coming to Canada. For instance, the Motorola Droid was initially a Verizon exclusive, but later came to Canada, as well as other countries, as the Milestone.

In the meantime, AT&T doesn’t plan to carry the LG’s newest device, the G7 ThinQ. In Canada, meanwhile, the G7 will be widely available, with all three national carriers, as well as their flanker brands, set to stock the device come June 1st.
