Android P tells users when their device’s camera or microphone is on in the background

Google is trying to stop sneaky apps from being sneaky

With Android P, Google is adding several new features to Android, including more robust notifications that show the user what components of their device an app is using in the background.

Moving forward, whenever a background app uses your device’s microphone or camera, Android will display a notification. These cards will include small microphone and camera icons so that users can see, at a glance, whether an app operating in the background is using their device’s camera or microphone.

This small visual tweak is the company’s latest attempt at providing more transparency to Android users.
