Alleged iPhone SE 2 screen protector suggests new phone will feature iPhone X-style notch

It's probably best to not get your hopes up for a bezel-less iPhone SE

A new leak suggests Apple’s long-rumoured iPhone SE refresh will see the Cupertino-based tech giant integrate an iPhone X-style notch into its next 4-inch smartphone.

The leak comes courtesy of parts leaker Sonny Dickson. It shows an iPhone X screen protector (pictured on the right) next to what Dickson claims is a screen protector for the next iPhone SE. Like the screen protector on the right, the alleged iPhone SE 2 screen protector features a top cutaway designed presumably to accommodate a display notch.

While a new SE model that combines the best elements of the iPhone 5S and iPhone X would undoubtedly be cool, it’s unlikely Apple will announce a notched iPhone SE anytime soon. Forgetting the challenge of miniaturizing the iPhone X’s TrueDepth camera array, it’s hard to see the company integrating the most advanced elements of its flagship smartphone into what is supposed to be a budget device.

It’s much more likely we’ll see, as other reports have suggested, a minor refresh of the SE should Apple decide to show off the device at WWDC.
