Spotify has registered with the FCC, meaning that the U.S.-based music streaming giant can now submit wireless hardware devices for approval.
There have been rumours floating around for a while that Spotify has been looking to break into the hardware business. Since the company is now registered with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), it seems that Spotify is getting ready to release some kind of hardware-related gadget.
The company’s registration gives it a grantee code. This code will allow Spotify to legally build devices that include wireless networking capabilities.
While no devices have leaked recently, there was a leak in April for a device that could stream Spotify’s music in a car. Before that, there was also a job posting seeking employees with hardware experience.
