Samsung announced a couple weeks ago that they exceeded sales of 300 million handsets in 2011, blowing past the 2010 record of 280 million handsets. There is still the busy Q4 period and Samsung could hit the 325 million mark with strong Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy SII, and Galaxy Note sales. JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business recently said “We look forward to extending this success going into 2012″.
According to the Korea Economic Daily next year is looking far better than 2011 for Samsung. The report claims that Samsung is upping the number of handset sales by 15%, targeting 374 million units worldwide. Taking 40% of the sales are smartphones with an estimated 150 million units. Samsung is the world’s number two handset manufacturer, right behind Nokia who is estimated to sell 399 million handsets in 2012.
