Just when I thought the Angry Birds game was heading south, Rovio has announced that Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Seasons had massive downloads on December 25th – setting a new record with 6.5 million downloads of the franchise.
Rovio’s Ville Heijari, the creator of Angry Birds, said that “We’re really excited to have such a massive number of new people get acquainted with Angry Birds over the holidays — we have exciting new releases lined up for 2012, and can’t wait to introduce them to the public”.
Hopefully Rovio comes out with another game other than Angry Birds. The 6.5 million downloads were a mix of free and paid apps from various app stores. The tipping point for the new record was probably the addition of Angry Birds on the BlackBerry PlayBook… (kidding)
