Apple files to trademark Apple Cash in Canada, Apple Pay Cash registered

Not only has Apple filed to trademark the Apple Card in Canada, but the company also filed the trademark for Apple Cash with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO). Apple filed the two trademarks on July 15th, 2019.

Additionally, back in 2017, Apple submitted the trademark for Apple Pay Cash; however, today, July 17th, 2019, CIPO officially registered the trademark. The trademark has a ten-year lifespan at CIPO.

Apple Cash is part of the Apple Pay mobile payment platform. However, it works within iMessage and allows users to send, receive and request money via Apple’s messaging app.

With the Apple Pay Cash trademark getting registered, alongside a new Apple Cash trademark submission, it’s possible we’re looking at a release sooner than later.

Some Canadian users previously noted that Apple Pay Cash appeared in their Wallet app back in March. This occurred after users updated their devices to the iOS 12.2 public beta 5.

It’s possible that Apple will launch Apple Cash with the launch of iOS 13 in the fall alongside the new iPhone.
