Q4 Global Cellphone shipments fall 10%

nokia-e71-imageVarious analysts predicted the cellphone market would slow down in Q4 2008, and they were correct. A total of 295 million cellphones were shipped worldwide, down 10% from the 329 million units in 2007, and the weakest quarter since 2001!

Strategy Analytics reports the following breakdown: Nokia shipped 113 million handsets (down 15% from 2007); Samsung 53 million handsets; LG shipped 26 million handsets ; Sony Ericsson sold 24.2 million handsets (down 21%); Motorola shipped 19 million handsets; Apple 4.4 million handsets
