Skype for Windows Phone 8 has been updated today to version 2.9, adding a couple of user-requested features that should appease long-time users.
The Microsoft-owned company has been quickly iterating its Windows Phone app, which now supports background calling and improved HD video chats. Version 2.9 adds a new homescreen with easier access to favourite contacts, as well as the ability to filter those contacts between those stored in your phone and those only on the Skype network.
It’s also possible to easily “pivot through app functions,” as Skype explains in a blog post, allowing more fluid movement within the app. Unfortunately, the app still lacks Android’s and iOS’ ability to leave video messages for users, something that the company is pushing quite hard in its latest marketing material. Maybe they’re saving it for version 3.0…
