Google posts Android 4.4 Factory Images for Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7’s

Nexus 7 tablet

Even though the Nexus 4 has not received an OTA update for Android 4.4 KitKat, Google has posted the factory images for the former flagship, in addition to the Nexus 10 and all Nexus 7’s, including WiFi and LTE versions. The WiFi Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013) began receiving an OTA update to KitKat earlier this week, but the cellular versions were left out.

While it’s not possible to install these images on top of existing installations — they will reset the device to factory settings, including apps, photos and videos — their presence is a good indicator that the OTA update is coming to the Nexus 4 and cellular Nexus 7’s in the coming days.

Android Central has a good guide on how to install a factory image on an Android device, and the OTA files have been released for the Nexus 7 (2012) and (2013) WiFi and Nexus 10, which can be manually sideloaded on top of existing installs.
