The signs are all pointing toward the official release of BlackBerry OS 5.0 to be sometime next week. A list of devices that will be getting the OS 5.0 update has been found and RIM states you “must have more than 64MB of memory to support this version of BlackBerry Device Software.”
Here’s a list of supported BlackBerry devices:
There is one caveat that RIM states in the “Additional Information” section is “Please note that not all wireless service providers will support BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 on all of the BlackBerry smartphones mentioned, as some wireless service providers will not carry all of these BlackBerry smartphone models, or may choose not to provide BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 for all of their BlackBerry smartphone models”.
So hopefully our Canadian carriers will support the upgrade… or we’ll just have to get it from another carrier that’s on the list.
