Motorola RAZR to receive ICS upgrade in Q2, Xoom and Atrix not until at least Q3

Motorola has updated its Android upgrade charts to Ice Cream Sandwich, and the forecast doesn’t look great. While many of our American counterparts must wait until Q3 2012 for some Android 4.0, our Motorola RAZR should see the update in Q2. That could include any time between March and June, but we’re hoping for earlier. This is in contrast to the Verizon Droid RAZR, which does not yet have a specific date yet.

When the RAZR was initially announced all the way back in October, Motorola claimed that both it and the Xoom would receive an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich no more than six weeks after Google released its final version of the operating system. Unfortunately, it’s been twelve weeks since Google launched Ice Cream Sandwich on the Galaxy Nexus.

The rest of the list is inconclusive, but hopeful. The Xoom WiFi will receive ICS, but there is no specified date. As for the ATRIX, no details are available but since the U.S. version is looking at Q3 for a time slot, we hope to receive ours around the same time.

The Motorola Pro+, that nifty business candybar, may receive Ice Cream Sandwich, but no confirmation either. Same for the XT860, which was one of my favourite QWERTY devices of last year.

And what if you’re still holding on to an older device like the original Milestone, Dext or Backflip? Time to upgrade, people.
