TELUS registers 7 “Managed mobility services” related trademarks

Every so often I search CIPO’s (Canadian Intellectual Property Office) trademark database to see if our carriers are up to something. Let’s begin with that I’m not too sure what this means, but I stumbled upon a few trademark submission from TELUS, specifically 7 of them that somewhat fall under the category of “Managed mobility services”. The trademark submissions were all filed on January 18th, 2012 and seem to be focussed on assisting a customer effectively manage their wireless bill. Here they are:

Trademark application #1560013: TELUS MMS – ADVISE
“Advisory and consulting services, namely establishing policy, processes and technology recommendations specific to a customer’s mobile telecommunications services requirements.”

Trademark application #1560014: TELUS MMS – ACQUIRE
“Managed mobility services, namely the setup and ongoing management of processes required by the customer for acquisition of new or replacement mobile telecommunications.”

Trademark application #1560015: TELUS MMS – APPLY
“Managed mobility services, namely the setup and ongoing management of processes required by the customer to facilitate moves, additions or changes to their mobile telecommunications services.”

Trademark application #1560016: TELUS MMS – ADAPT
“Managed mobility services, namely the setup and ongoing management of processes required by the customer to facilitate moves, additions or changes to their mobile telecommunications services.”

Trademark application #1560017: TELUS MMS – ADMINISTER
“Managed mobility services, namely the setup and ongoing management of processes required by the customer to facilitate administration, monitoring and maintenance of their mobile telecommunications services.”

Trademark application #1560018: TELUS MMS – ASSIST
“Managed mobility services, namely the setup and ongoing management of processes required by the customer to facilitate the resolution of incidents, problems, and issues relating to their mobile telecommunications services.”

Trademark application #1560020: TELUS MMS – ANALYZE
“Managed mobility services, namely the setup and ongoing management of processes required by the customer to assist in the analysis and reporting of their mobile telecommunications services.”

All the trademarks begin with the letter A, not sure if that means anything, but interesting. TELUS recently revamped their monthly price plans to be “Clear & Simple”, but these trademarks could be part of, or an extension of, TELUS’ “My TELUS Mobility” where customers update their account info, view and change their plan, plus upgrade to a new device. Or, quite possibly, it could be for a program for their business division, TELUS Business, to help customers monitor their account activity to and streamline monthly cellphone costs.

Hopefully something will be revealed soon. Thoughts?
