At long last, Hulu has arrived in Canada — well, sort of.
On Wednesday, the Disney-owned service was added to Disney+ worldwide, including in Canada. It has replaced the Star branding that was used in Canada and other international markets.

It should be mentioned that this doesn’t really make much of a difference to the actual user experience. However, before we get into that, it’s important to note that Disney will raise the price of Disney+ by up to $3 in Canada this November. This is in line with Disney+ price increases worldwide, including in the U.S., so it’s not tied specifically to the Hulu news.
All of the old Star content is still on Disney+, it’s just now Hulu-branded instead. This means that titles like Only Murders in the Building, The Kardashians, Futurama and Alien: Earth now fall under a dedicated Hulu tab instead of Star. And as with the other tiles on Disney+, the Hulu one has its own animated effect — in this case, a shining green light.

Disney says the Hulu rebrand is part of a larger push towards a “fully integrated unified app experience” next year. While we don’t know exactly what that means, the company has teased some other UX tweaks. This includes simpler navigation via a new “For You” tab, more personalized recommendations, a more dynamic content pages featuring characters from the given movie or show and Widgets on iOS. The company also teased more “mobile-first and mobile-exclusive experiences” dropping sometime “in the year ahead.”
If anything, the biggest change to Disney+ in Canada recently was the launch of its Perks rewards program in Canada.
