Starlink is providing one month of free service for Canadians affected by the ongoing wildfires through August 2025.
Recently, wildfires have been affecting several areas across the country, including Ontario’s cottage country, Eastern Canada, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Fire bans have been put into effect for several parts of the GTHA, Cobourg, Medicine Hat, and the Maritimes, with the August 2025 fires being especially devastating for provinces like Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia.
According to Yahoo News, Canada is in its second-worst wildfire season on record. The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC) now says that 7.5 million hectares have been burned by 4,575 fires so far in 2025, surpassing the 10-year average. The CIFFC also says that there are currently 638 fires, with a combined 418 fires being classified as ‘out of control.’
For pre-existing customers in affected regions, Starlink will provide a one-month service credit. If a customer has cancelled or paused their service, Starlink will apply a credit for the amount of the previous service plan, which will allow users to reactivate their plan and utilize the service credit. Customers who have recently purchased Starlink and are within an affected area can contact support and receive a free service credit through September 15, 2025.
In June 2025, Starlink offered a similar one-month of free service credit to Canadians impacted by wildfires. SaskTel did something similar for residents within Saskatchewan, who had been affected by wildfires that were decimating the area.
