Acclaimed Canadian indie game 1000xResist is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 4. It will also launch on Xbox Game Pass on that date, with support across all platforms for French, Korean, and Portuguese also being added.
Originally released last year for PC and Nintendo Switch, 1000xResist is a high-concept sci-fi adventure game from Vancouver-based Sunset Visitor. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Nier Automata, Neon Genesis Evangelion and In the Mood for Love, the game follows Watcher, a dutiful clone in a post-apocalyptic far future who uncovers a shocking secret that changes everything.
Upon release, 1000xResist garnered significant critical acclaim for its ambitious and deep narrative. It’s received significant awards recognition from various bodies, including a prestigious Peabody Award for Interactive & Immersive Work and nomination for the coveted Seumas McNally Grand Prize indie game award. I know we champion a lot of Canadian games on MobileSyrup, but I am truly not being hyperbolic when I say it’s one of the most well-written and rich stories I’ve ever seen in games. I really can’t recommend it enough.
What makes 1000xResist even more impressive is that it was the debut title from Sunset Visitor, a core team of four that previously worked in Vancouver’s performing arts scene. If you’re interested in how the team made that pivot, as well as the inspirations of Vancouver itself on the game, check out our interview with creative director Remy Siu from last year.
