The long-awaited native Dropbox app for Windows 8 and Windows RT devices is now available, bringing cloud-synced functionality to devices like the Microsoft Surface. The app was originally promised back at the launch of Windows 8 and the Surface, though a release date wasn’t given — just that it was coming soon.
Like its peer apps on other platforms, you can browse, download and upload files to your Dropbox account, and you can even share individual files or folders by using the Share menu in the Windows 8 charm bar. It does not, however, support automatic uploads like its Windows 7 equivalent and, since the Metro app cannot run in the background, will need to be open to initiate large downloads.
