Vevo, the YouTube for music videos (which consequently hosts much of its content on YouTube itself) has launched Vevo TV, a leanback 24/7 music channel available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, the web, Roku and Xbox 360, with others to come soon.
It’s an interesting endeavour: there’s a set hourly schedule of programming, encouraging users to “tune in” to their favourite content. While Vevo’s on-demand service still comprises the bulk of the company’s efforts, this new initiative marks the Sony/Universal/EMI venture squarely as Google’s competitor for frictionless watching.
The service is available to Canadians as well as those in the United States, so if you’re not already a subscriber, get to it.
