The BlackBerry Q10 will go on sale in Canada on May 1st. This iconic Berry sports the popular QWERTY keyboard and has a 3.1-inch 720×720 display. The Q10 will be BlackBerry’s second BlackBerry 10 powered smartphone, the first was the Z10, and sales kicked off today in the United Kingdom. Apparently people flocked to the QWERTY. According to a report in Bloomberg, Thorsten Heins, BlackBerry CEO, stated that “We have very, very good first signs already after the launch in the U.K. This is going into the installed base of more than 70 million BlackBerry users so we have quite some expectations. We expect several tens of million of units.”

BlackBerry is aiming the Q10 at their corporate clients and have priced it at $199.99 on a 3-year, or $700 outright. Heins didn’t give specific timing of when he forecasts Q10 sales reaching “several tens of million of units,” but it’ll be interesting to see the marketing strategy around this device, and what BlackBerry does to encourage legacy BlackBerry users to convert to the new Q10. Check out our Q10 review here.
