The only device in Canada that’s currently works with Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch is the Galaxy Note 3. It’s known that Samsung will make more smartphones compatible with this wearable tech and today they revealed the full list.
Starting in October in Germany, via an update to Jelly Bean (OS 4.3), Samsung will make the Galaxy S4, S III, and Note II connect to the Galaxy Gear companion device. Samsung also noted ‘through a separate software update beginning at the end of October’ the Galaxy S4 mini, S4 Active, Mega 5.8, Mega 6.3, and S4 zoom will be compatible.
However, as usual, the ‘software update schedules for each device will vary by country and carrier.’ Canada has a tendency to be receive OS updates later than other. During the Canadian Wireless Trade Show, Samsung Canada’s Paul Brannan stated that we’ll see the OS 4.3 update arrive in November for Note II, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4.
