Music streaming service Rdio today announced a new type of integration with SoundHound that will see songs tagged in SoundHound automatically added to a special SoundHound playlist on your Rdio.
Rdio teamed up with SoundHound back in 2012 to allow users to listen to the music being discovered by SoundHound users in certain areas. A nifty social feature but nothing as useful as being able to add songs you’re listening to and loving directly to a dedicated playlist.
“We are always looking for additional ways to enable music discovery for our listeners,” said Chris Becherer, SVP of Product at Rdio. “We’re excited to be working with the SoundHound team to create a dynamic listening experience around songs identified in the real world, right inside Rdio.”
Users will need to set up ‘Connect To Rdio” inside the SoundHound application. Once the feature is enabled, any song they tag will be placed on a special SoundHound playlist within Rdio.
This new functionality is available for both iOS and Android users It requires iOS 6.1 or later for iOS and compatibility with Android varies by device. No word on when Windows Phone users will get the same treatment.
