HTC’s ‘Flounder’ tablet successfully passes through WiFi certification, runs Android L

HTC has been heavily rumoured to launch a new tablet in the coming weeks. This reportedly goes by the code name of “Flounder” and is expected to hit the market as the Nexus 9.

A sign of progress has occurred as the Flounder has passed through hands at the WiFi Alliance and successfully received its WiFi certification. The listing notes that the Flounder (product number 0P8210000) runs Android L, which is the next version of the OS that will be available sometime this fall.

Leaked specs suggest HTC will team up with Google and have it sport an aluminum body that measures in at 7.9mm thin, have an 8.9-inch 2048×1440 pixel LCD display, a 64-bit Tegra K1-powered SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16-32GB of internal storage, 8MP rear OIS camera, 3MP front camera, all in a 7.9mm thin aluminum body.
