HTC has followed up its recent announcement of the 64-bit Desire 510 with the Desire 820. This mid-range smartphone is LTE-enabled and sports a 5.5-inch display, Qualcomm Octa-Core 64-bit processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 2600 mAh battery. The Desire 820 runs Android, while not listed it’s expected to be KitKat, with Sense UI, and BoomSound with dual front stereo speakers.
HTC is targeting photo enthusiasts with the Desire 820 as it comes with a 13MP rear camera that shoots 1080p videos, and a very respectable 8MP front-facing camera. There are also has a number of features to enhance your images, such as the ability to “merge your features with a friend’s or celebrity’s for a modern mashup,” and editing tools like “Live Makeup” that allows to “set the desired level of skin smoothing before taking the photo.”
Overall dimensions are 157.7 x 78.74 x 7.74 mm and weighs in at 155 grams. Similar to the 510, HTC will create a Dot View case specifically for the Desire 820. HTC said the Desire 820 will arrive “later this fall” and “sets a new benchmark for mid-range smartphones.” No word on a price or Canadian availability.
