Apple recently announced it set “a new record” for iPhone pre-orders with four million orders processed within the first 24 hours. Sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus started today and many Canadians took part in the launch. If tradition continues, Apple will release a statement early Monday morning with opening weekend sales numbers.
In the mean time, we reached out see how the carriers were fairing with demand for the new iPhones:
TELUS:
“We’ve had a great response at our stores today. Customers can walk in and purchase an iPhone 6 in-store. Due to overwhelming global customer demand and inventory constraints, there are limited quantities of iPhone 6 Plus available for purchase in-store. However, customers can still order their iPhone 6 Plus in-store or online and we will ship their new device directly to their home as soon as inventory becomes available. TELUS will do its best to fulfill customer orders as soon as we receive additional inventory from Apple.”
Virgin:
“Members should absolutely swing by a Virgin Mobile store to buy an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. Our stores are receiving inventory regularly.”
Bell:
“iPhone 6/6 Plus is selling very well – Canadians want the new iPhones on Canada’s largest network. Inventory is arriving to stores regularly, so customers are encouraged to drop by and make a purchase. Given the high-demand, though, calling ahead to check availability isn’t a bad idea.”
Rogers:
“We’ve seen a record number of pre-orders for the devices since we opened our reservations systems on Friday. We are working to get a device to every new and existing customer that wants one as quickly as possible. A significant portion of our inventory will be delivered to customers who reserved their spot in line … We encourage customers to reserve in advance so they don’t have to battle the crowds and can get their device shipped to the store of their choice. Customers can also still walk into many Rogers stores to pick up a device. It’s best to call ahead to make sure the model they’re looking for is in stock.”
SaskTel:
“Our dealers and stores still have some iPhone 6 stock but it is getting to be slim pickings on options with mostly the 128 GB device left. We anticipate that we will be sold out at most dealers and Stores by the end of day.”
