Nvidia Shield Tablet will get Lollipop by end of November

The Nexus 9 has shown us what Google thinks is the perfect tablet experience in terms of hardware and software. However, if you already have a perfectly good tablet, it’s unlikely you’ll rush and out buy the Nexus 9. Luckily. if your tablet is relatively new, you’ll be able to enjoy all the benefits of Android 5.0 on your current device. It just depends on when the manufacturer plans to roll out the update.

Nvidia today confirmed that Shield Tablet users will be getting Lollipop before the end of November. Confirmation comes via SlashGear, which reports receiving word from Nvidia on the issue.

Up until now, manufacturers have been reluctant to nail down specific time frames for their Lollipop roll outs. But, like the Nexus 9, the Shield Tablet is also based on the Tegra K1, so perhaps that has something to do with how fast Nvidia will be deploying the update.

Processor aside, the Shield Tablet boasts an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS display, along with 2GB of RAM, dual-band MIMO WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a 5MP camera in the back, a DirectStylus 2 pen, and Android 4.4.2. Launched earlier this year, it is priced at $329 here in Canada.
