LG and Google sign 10-year cross-licensing agreement for all current and future patents

Piggybacking on a similar patent agreement with Samsung, LG and Google announced a 10-year cross-licensing agreement that covers “a broad range of products and technologies.” Allen Lo, deputy general counsel for patents at Google, said, “by working together on cross-licenses like this, companies can focus on bringing great products and services to consumers around the world.” The agreement covers all existing patents from both companies and all filings over the next 10 years.

LG was one of the first manufacturers to back Google’s Android OS and has beed part of the Nexus lineup with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Apart from being an inaugural launch partner for Android Wear with the G Watch and G Watch R, LG has also embedded Android within its Smart Refrigerators.
