After OnePlus announced that its second-generation “flagship killer” will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, people started speculating that the OnePlus 2 would be more expensive to manufacture than its predecessor, and that it would be prone to overheating like other Snapdragon 810-equipped smartphones.
In response to the rumours, OnePlus quickly took to its blog, saying, “We would like to remind you that these are just that — rumors.”
It goes on to add, “The 810 is much more powerful than its younger counterpart, the 801, and is a much more expensive component. We’re paying more for the 810 than we ever have for the 801. In fact, the cost is almost 60% higher, and we’re not getting any discount. We can tell you now that the price of the 2 will certainly be higher than $322.”
Besides sporting a Snapdragon 810, the OnePlus 2 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and 3GB of RAM.
OnePlus ends its blog post by telling everyone to avoid “jumping to conclusions about the quality of the 2, we ask all of our fans and critics to just wait and see.” The above image is from the fine folks at OnePlus who state that “what you’re looking at a heavily Photoshopped OnePlus 2.”
Regardless, prepare your wallet to pay more than $322 USD.
