Today, March 16th, marks Uber’s fourth year in Toronto.Ā To mark the occasion, the popular ride-sharing company has shared several Toronto-specific statistics.
Since launching in the region back in 2012, Toronto users have made more than 16 million trips while using the service. Over that period, Uber drivers and their passengers have amassed a collective 122 million kilometres and climbing. During that same time frame, some 15,000 individuals have worked as drivers for the company.
Moreover, Uber says some 500,000 individualsĀ have at least tried out the service over the last four years.
This past year, the company brought several of its marquee new services, including UberPool, UberHOP and UberEats, to Toronto prior to other major markets the company operates in. Since launching this past January, Torontonians have used UberPool, the company’s car pooling service, to share more than 300,000 rides. UberEats, Uber’s on-demand food delivery services has delivered more than 100,000 meals since launching almost 11 months ago.
Moving into its fifth year, Uber will look to fend off the some of the regulatory hurdles both Toronto and cities in and around the Greater Toronto Area attempt to throw at the company.
