Nexus 5X performance-enhancing OTA update now rolling out

nexus5X

Last week, Google announced it was preparing to roll out an OTA update for the Nexus 5X that would help address some of the performance issues users were reporting while using the recently released device. That update is now available.

If you haven’t gotten the update yet and own a Nexus 5X bought directly from Google, you can download it manually by navigating to your phone’s settings menu, scrolling down to the bottom of the menu, tapping “About phone,” and then tapping on “System update.” The update weighs in at a little more than 60 MBs and is worth every single byte.

I’ve had a couple of days with it and I am happy to report the update does as promised. The 5X’s performance is improved across the board, particularly when switching between apps. I’ve also not had any apps randomly close on me in the time I’ve had the update installed on my 5X.

If you’ve had a chance to download the update on your Nexus 5X, tell us how performance is after installing it in the comments section below.
