The Google Assistant feature we’ve all been waiting for is finally available: ‘What song is this?’
The functionality that first arrived with the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL, is now rolling out to Android smartphones.
If you want Google Assistant to find out what song is playing, you can ask the digital assistant questions such as “What song is this?” and Assistant will analyze the song.
When the song is identified, the Assistant presents a small info card that has lyrics, artist, album and a release date, as well as what genre the song fits in to.
The card also includes links to the featured artist and hyperlinks to the song on YouTube and Google Play Music.
We’ve tested this out the feature with the Sony Xperia XZ1 and HTC U11, the latter of which running Android 7.1.2 Nougat. MobileSyrup has also tested the functionality out with Canada English and Canadian French and it’s worked with both languages.
