Today the Unicode Consortium, the shadowy organization that, among other things, determines what emoji should work across all manner of electronic devices, published the initial list of emoji that it plans to add in 2018.
In all, 130 emoji are currently slated to make the group’s final cut in 2018. The final list won’t be approved until the group meets again in the first quarter of next year. Before then, new emojis could be added, removed or changed altogether.
For the time being, notable emoji include a llama, lacrosse stick and a wonderfully festive “face with smiling eyes and party horn.”
