If you’re a Star Wars fan living in the Toronto area, you’ll want to schedule some time over the next week to head downtown.
Starting today until December 15th — the day that Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the latest movie in the long-running sci-fi opera, comes out — Disney, in collaboration with Bell, is running a special The Last Jedi pop-up at 279 Queen Street West.
If you’ve ever walked by 299 Queen Street, former home of Much Music, then you’ll be familiar with the space; it has hosted a number of pop-ups in the past, including one devoted to Game of Thrones.
According to Bell, the pop-up features life-size replicas of Star Wars characters like Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and BB-8, as well as the actual lightsaber prop Adam Driver used in the filming of the movie.
Of course, there will also be special Star Wars-related merchandise you’ll be able to pick up at the pop-up. Bell promises that special guests will make an appearance too.
âAfter a successful campaign working with Disney for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we are once again delivering dynamic content and reaching millions of Canadians for Star Wars: The Last Jedi,â said Perry MacDonald, senior vice-president of English television and local sales for Bell Media, in a statement sent to MobileSyrup.
âWe are giving fans an intimate look at the yearâs biggest film with exclusive TV coverage, in addition to unique access to the filmâs characters at the Pop-Up Exhibit.â
The pop-up is part of a larger Star Wars push that Bell is doing this year in conjunction with the release of the new movie.
The company’s ETALK channel, for instance, will host a Star Wars week starting on December 11th, 2017 with on-screen interviews scheduled with the movie’s stars, including the legendary Mark Hamill, as well as Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.
