Today is a brand new day for PlayBook users! OS 2.0 has FINALLY arrived and this time around it’s right on schedule as promised!
This update is a 402MB download and gets bumped up to version 2.0.0.7971, bringing big improvements, actually huge improvements which makes this feel like a brand new tablet. We first received a hands on of the new features at CES, mainly the anticipated native email (now has a unified inbox and integrated with Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn), contacts and calendar clients. Some other enhancements you’ll see is the addition of Print To Go, a new BlackBerry Video Store (not yet available in Canada), a slightly redesigned UI, Android application player and an updated version of Documents To Go. Plus RIM also updated BlackBerry Bridge which makes it possible for your smartphone to act as a remote control for the PlayBook.
So, PlayBook OS 2.0 is here and it’s a free download. If you have a PlayBook, check “Software Updates”, then “Check for Updates.”
