First screenshots leak of HTC Sense 5.0 alongside what could be the M7

Consumers and reviewers alike are anticipating the follow-up to HTC’s popular One X, which will likely be announced next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. While the company has released the Droid DNA in the U.S., which has a 5-inch 1080p display, the rumoured M7 looks to be slightly more compact while maintaining the same high-end specs that made the DNA so popular on Verizon.

The M7 has seen its first leak in the form of Sense 5.0 screenshots and a very grainy, almost-useless photo of the device’s front. It’s interesting to note that the M7 looks to use the same combination of capacitive buttons below the screen and virtual menu button at the bottom of the screen in apps that don’t support the ICS Action Bar.

Sense 5.0 appears similar to its 4.0+ predecessor, though the keyboard looks to be using a different theme. At this point it’s too early to tell which version of Jelly Bean the phone is running, though it should be assumed to be 4.1 and not the newer 4.2. HTC was the first OEM to release a device running Ice Cream Sandwich in One X, One S and One V, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see the Taiwanese company bringing 4.2 to the tablet at launch.

The software aesthetic has been maintained, which is going to irk many users looking for HTC to reinvent itself in 2013. While Sense 4.0 was a huge improvement over 3.6, it wasn’t quite enough to prevent other companies from catching up in market share in 2012.

We’re hoping to see more leaks of the M7 as MWC approaches. What do you think? Are you excited for this 4.7-inch 1080p device?
