John Sims departs BlackBerry, company hires Carl Wiese to lead sales

When John Chen took over the role as CEO of BlackBerry 19 months ago, he brought on John Sims as president of global enterprise services, who later became the president of sales. At the time of his hire, Chen stated Sims was in place to “help lead our key business operations through our ongoing reorganization and transition.”

Today, BlackBerry announced Sim has departed the company. To make up for the loss, the company has recruited Carl Wiese, who will take on the role of president of global sales. Wiese was previously a VP at Cisco and will be “responsible for driving BlackBerry’s go-to-market strategy and advancing the company’s global sales efforts to drive growth.”

“I am pleased to welcome Carl – a veteran sales leader – to BlackBerry to be the head of our global sales organization,” said Chen “We are deeply committed to working with our customers to bring them the most innovative and secure solutions, and Carl will be central to that effort. Carl has extensive experience in enterprise software and emerging technology solutions, which will be instrumental as BlackBerry moves toward stabilizing revenue and sustaining profitability.”
