Telus clarifies that it’s not working with Fonus

Telus has clarified it isn’t working with the upstart MVNO Fonus.

In case you haven’t heard, Fonus claims it will be the world’s first global carrier. The company says that it plans to offer SIM cards and unlimited data to users all over the world for $30 USD per month.

Since it was first announced, the lack of information surrounding Fonus has led many to be skeptical of the MVNO’s (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) lofty ambitions and claims.

Now, it’s come to light that Telus, the Canadian carrier Fonus says it’s working with, does not have a relationship with the upstart MVNO. In an FAQ section on Fonus’ website, Fonus stated that it is working with Telus, according to iPhone in Canada.

That information has since been removed from the FAQ.

Update 11/16/2019: This story has been updated with additional information.
