Apple says a ‘future software update’ will fix iMessage bug

Apple says they are currently working on a software update that will fix a bug in iMessage. The issue, which remarkably dates back to 2011 with iOS 5, deals with some users who have switched away from using the iPhone to non-iOS handsets, namely Android, prevents them from retrieving messages, or in some cases can no longer receive texts from iPhone users.

In the United States, this iMessage issue has escalated to become a federal lawsuit against Apple, but the company seems to working on a fix. Finally acknowledging what users have been saying, a statement to Re/code notes that “we recently fixed a server-side iMessage bug which was causing an issue for some users, and we have an additional bug fix in a future software update. For users still experiencing an issue, please contact AppleCare.”

There is no word on when the future software update will arrive.
