Prime Day 2019 was the ‘largest shopping event in Amazon history’

Prime Day 2019 was a massive success, according to Amazon.

Now in its fifth year, Amazon stated that 2019 was similar to 2018 as the company saw record-breaking sales. Prime Day 2019 was a 48-hour sales marathon that was the ‘largest shopping event in Amazon history’ and “surpassed the previous Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.”

Amazon Prime members purchased over 175 million items during Prime Day, but the company did not disclose specific sales revenues. Amazon did note that “Prime members worldwide saved more than one billion dollars throughout Prime Day.”

Globally, some of the top items purchased were the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote, iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum, Amazon Smart Plug, Echo Show and Echo Show 5.

In Canada, the top-selling items were the PlayStation 4 Slim with Spiderman and Horizon Zero Dawn, LifeStraw Personal Water Filter, and 23andMe Health + Ancestry kits.
