Microsoft’s new Surface tablet will be available in Canada, plus in seven other counties, on October 26th. The prices start at $519 and increase to $719 for the 64GB with cover. A couple days ago we let you know that the 32GB version without cover sold out, but those who wanted to be the first to have it and pre-ordered received an unwelcome email from Redmond:
“Thank you for ordering on Microsoft Store Canada. The release date for the preorder product has changed. The product listed below will now be available on November 2, 2012.”
The Surface listed on the Canadian Microsoft Store seems to sold out, now saying “your order will ship in 1-2 weeks.” There’s no reason for the delay listed in the email. Certainly unfortunate. You can of course cancel your pre-order and take a chance at one of the upcoming pop-up stores (Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Burnaby).
Maybe, just maybe, there’ll be a lineup on launch day. You buying?
Update: Apparently this was a BIG mixup. According to Microsoft:
“Unfortunately, an incorrect email was sent to several of our international customers who pre-ordered Surface from the Microsoft Online Store in the past week. All customers should expect their devices by the original date given when orders were placed. Microsoft is following up with customers to confirm their original shipping date remains unchanged, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
