Fitbit currently developing an app for Windows Phone 8.1

If you have a Windows Phone and use the Fitbit activity tracker you’ll be pleased by this news. A post on the company forum, Fitbit declared they are “developing an application for Windows Phone 8.1. Thank you for all your feedback and support!” Unfortunately there is no indication as to when the app will be live. This is certainly a good sign not only for Microsoft’s Windows Phone ecosystem, but wearable manufacturers who only develop apps for iOS and Android.

Fitbit was forced to recall the Fitbit Force activity tracker back in March due to “allergic reactions to the stainless steel casing” used on the strap. Health Canada reported that only 28,000 were sold here, of which 50 people complained of irritations. On the upside, Fitbit is expected to come back to market with a refresh of the Force and an improved band.
