2Q08 North America Mobile Forecast, 2008 – 2010

A new report by Research and Markets called “2Q08 North America Mobile Forecast” has found some interesting numbers regarding the Canadian Mobile industry:

– In Canada, the authors are forecasting that Rogers Wireless will to continue to be the largest operator with a subscriber base of 8.9 million in 2010 (down from the authors previous quarterly forecast of 9.5 million subscribers).

– The level of competition with the two other operators in the Canadian market will be maintained.

– Rogers Wireless, Bell Mobility and Telus Mobility will have similar market shares (by subscribers) of 37%, 31%, and 28% respectively.

– Given the level of competition in Canada and the increased use of data, we are now forecasting that in 2010, the operator with the highest ARPU (Average Revenue per User) in the region will be Rogers Wireless at US$ 62.31 per user.

– We are expecting that all of the Canadian wireless operators with the exception of Bell Mobility will have ARPU levels higher than the highest US operator.

– Canada to have an average MOU (Minutes of Use) /month of only 506 minutes in 2010.
