CRTC: Wireless market revenues increase 14.4% to $14.4 billion

CRTC issued its first “annual report on the communications industry”. Specifically for the wireless sector:

– The wireless market was the largest sector of the telecommunications industry with revenues of $14.4 billion, an increase of 14.4% from $12.6 billion in 2006. Overall, wireless revenues accounted for 38% of
all telecommunications revenues and grew at an annual rate of 16.2% between 2003 and 2007.

– There were 20.3 million wireless subscribers in 2007, an increase of 8.2% over the previous year.

– Prices for telecommunications services in Canada are in line with those in other countries (including the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Australia)
