Rogers “Home Calling Zone” rebranded to “Talkspot”

Rogers UMA (Unlimited Mobile Access) “Home Calling Zone” service has been rebranded to “Talkspot”. This service allows you to make unlimited calls when you are in your home calling zone.

In order for this to work in your home you will need the following: A Rogers cell phone, either the BlackBerry Pearl or the Nokia 6086, a router with a connection speed of 512 kbps, and one of the two rate plans ($15 and $20 plan). Rogers says this will work if you are within the “typical distance” of your house which is 30 metres when an icon will show up on your phone.

Essentially, if you get one of these phones and want to pay the increase in rate plans, and spend a lot of time on the phone at home, this is for you. More info here and make sure you read the FAQ as it really outlines a clear understanding of what Talkspot is and how it works.
