Rogers changes Hardware Upgrade Program for Smartphone customers

rogers-hup

We knew that Rogers increased the rates of their BlackBerry devices from our story last week.

However, today it seems an internal e-mail has surfaced that states the Hardware Upgrade Program (HUP) for Smartphone owners will be changing from 12 months to 24 months. Voice only customers will remain the same at 12 months.

According to BGR the e-mail reads “The Hardware Upgrade Program (HUP) allows eligible customers to upgrade to leading edge data devices. Beginning March 17, the minimum eligibility tenure rule is changing from 12 months to 24 months for customers who wish to upgrade their smartphone and are currently on a data plan or Voice & Data Package.”
