Rogers releases Sony Ericsson W705 for $149.99

w705imageIt was only a few days ago that Rogers released the stellar 8.1 megapixel Sony Ericsson C905, and now their following up with the official launch of the W705. We’ve written about this a number of times and believe this slider is a great addition and one of their better Walkman devices. The reason is because of its additional features such as the quick access to Facebook and YouTube.

Regarding the Facebook integration. Sony Ericsson is looking to make it easy on their customers by giving them ways to only “click once” to the apps they go to most often. The W705’s Facebook feature allows you to make updated and check for Facebook feeds from the homescreen. The same is with the YouTube… the W705 lets you take and upload new videos straight from your mobile.

Overall dimensions are 3.7 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches and this weighs only 98 grams. Some other key features of the W705 are that it is Wi-Fi and HSUPA turbo 3G, a 2.4 inch QVGA display (resolution of 320×240 pixels), 3.2 MP camera, FM radio, Shake control, Sense Me, Play Now, DLNA support (allowing you to connect wirelessly to other devices), comes with 4GB and can expand up to 8GB. The W705 will come in “Luxury Silver” and “Passionate Red” and is available for $149.99 on a 3-year contract.

Michelle Digulla, General Manager for Sony Ericsson Canada said “With more than one million Walkman phones sold in Canada it’s clear mobile entertainment is key for consumers. And now with enhanced sound and integrated social media applications the appeal is sure to grow further.”

We will have our review shortly. Until then, check out our unboxing here.
