TELUS Samsung R540 Video Review

The Telus Samsung R540 is an affordable device that has a couple nice features that puts this just above an entry level flip phone.

To begin the review, this feels good in the hand and also is relatively small. Overall dimensions of the R540 is 92.46 x 47.00 x 17.53mm and is only 3.32 ounces. So the point is that this won’t get in the way of feeling heavy in your pockets. On the outside you’ll notice it has this mirror look to the faceplate, this brings a bit of needed style to the R540. In addition, an old school clock proudly shows the time on the exterior display (96×96 resolution). Apart from the clock, this shows the artist, song and any messages you have.

You can control all your music from the front of the device as it has dedicated music keys… in addition, very surprising is that you can get up to 8GB of memory with a microSD card (located on the side) on the R540. So you know you will be able to store a ton of songs on here. Also on the front it the 1.3 megapixel camera (4x digital zoom). The camera is decent and you can scroll through your pics with the directional pad. This has a video recorder also but be warned the sound quality and picture quality (very pixely) is not the greatest. But for the dollar value is certainly capture the moments you want.

The internal screen is 2.1 inches and has a resolution of 176 x 220. The keypad is nice and big, so it’s perfect for when you want to dial your contacts or text buddies. The max number of characters allowed for a text is 123. The one great thing about this device is that it’s so incredibly easy to use. You have to literally open the box, put the battery in and turn it on and start using. Not to complicated and challenging. Of course, this also comes with the standard features such as calendar, clock, contacts, games etc.
