Motorola Rival A455 Video Review

The Motorola Rival is making a grand entrance into Canada and competes with all the other QWERTY devices out there. This was released by TELUS last week and I can see this eventually ending up at their sub-brand Koodo Mobile one day.

The Rival is a great messaging device. The keyboard is nicely spaced out and the keys feel good. The overall weight of the Rival is only 124 grams and measures 50mm x 96.5mm x .100.3mm. The good news about the Rival is that it has a 2.2 inch display with a few touchscreen options (keypad and soft keys). The actual device feels great in your hand, very solid even though it’s made of plastic. As I said, the full QWERTY keyboard really makes this device what it is. If you are a heavy texter this is something that you will love as it’s really easy to use. There are a few 1-touch quick access buttons such as the IM, messaging and emoticons. These will make you more productive at blasting out the messages.

The 2 megapixel camera is OK, nothing really special but will do the job. Unfortunately there is no real zoom options or flash so you’ll be left in the dark with poor pictures to show everyone. The Rival has video capabilities, but comes up a bit pixelated when viewing. The great news is that the sound quality for the speakers (located at the back) is loud. A microSD card is located under the battery cover and can hold up to 8GB for all your music, pics and videos.

In our review we took a look into the web, pics and video and also the messaging. Overall this is an affordable full slide-out QWERTY messaging device. Check it out here:

The TELUS Motorola Rival can be yours on the following price plans: 3-year contract: $99.99; 2-year contract: $199.99; 1-year contract: $249.99 and Outright: $299.99
