TELUS changes Service Terms: “phone” is now “equipment”

telus-donkeysWe last saw TELUS change their Service Terms about a month ago. At that time it was all about the addition of SIM cards on their network (see pic here). Looking at their website today there has been some more revisions that TELUS customers (and future customers) should be aware of. There are set to take place October 1st.

TELUS wants to bring a bit more clarification when it comes to some verbiage, specifically how a “phone” is classified. They write “Clarification of defined terms including updating the term “phone” to “equipment” to reflect the variety of equipment that can be used on the service in addition to phones”.

In section 1 states “In these service terms, (i) “you” and “your” means the person accepting billing and payment responsibility for the service; and (ii) “equipment” means all equipment (including phones, smartphones, pagers, SIMs, and modems or any other type of wireless telecommunications device) used in connection with the service. We will not have a binding agreement until TELUS has activated your equipment on the service.”

In addition, in section 6 under the “No warranties” section shows that “Not all equipment will work on all TELUS networks”. This goes back to our earlier post regarding the upcoming HSPA network with the BlackBerry Storm and Tour not being compatible. It states “TELUS networks are able to support a wide range of equipment. However, not all equipment will work on all TELUS networks.”
