Video: LG Eve Review #1

We’ve been playing around with the LG Eve for a couple weeks now. It’s their first entrance into the Android OS and it’s a great first crack. As I stated earlier the design of the Eve is incredibly simple and clean… with this said this might make the user easily tired of the design as there’s nothing really “standout” about it’s look. You have to think 3-years down the road and see yourself with this and if it’ll last. The good news is that Rogers has this on a promo now for $0.99 on a 3-year.

Overall the dimensions are 109 x 54.5 x 15.9mm and weighs in at a decent 139 grams. It fits great in your hand and Rogers ships this with a 2GB microSD card (can hold up to 16GB). The screen size is 3-inches and has a standard resolution of 320×480. Apart from having Android OS 1.5 there is only one thing that is new and it’s all LG. They have put their new S-class user interface on this and set it apart from other Android devices that are in the market. I personally like the UI as it’s incredibly intuitive and broken down into several categories.

The Eve has a 5 megapixel camera with flash, 4x zoom and video capabilities. The video editor is probably the best part about the Eve as it’s a fun way to play around. Check out the video I captured and you’ll see what I mean. I found the video quality decent, but at times pixelated. Even the day I shot the vid was really windy and the sound quality was OK. The outdoor and indoor pics were solid and the flash worked well in dark areas. When you slide open the device you reveal the 5-row full QWERTY keyboard. These keys are nicely spaced out and have a directional keys with a button that gives you quick access to your main menu.
